Idrissa Akuna 'Idris' Elba was born in the London suburb of Hackney to mother Eve, a Ghanaian working a clerical job, and father Winston, from Sierra Leone and a Ford Motor Company factory worker. The young Elba was raised in East Ham and went to school in Canning Town where his interest in acting was first sparked. Reading the weekly publication 'The Stage'  which covers the entertainment industry, Elba responded to an advertisement, auditioned for a stage play and was successful and subsequently hooked up with his first Agent. In 1986 he also started DJ'ing to help out in his Uncle's business and a year later he started up his own DJ company. He left school in 1988 having secured a place at London's National Youth Music Theatre, and was able to secure regular work on the BBC 'Crimewatch' programme acting out murder reconstructions. At 19 he was working the nightclub scene as 'DJ Big Driis' but within a year was auditioning for television roles.

His career kicked off in television in 1994 with a string of TV series that saw out the rest of the decade starting with '2point4 Children', 'Space Precinct', 'Absolutely Fabulous', 'Bramwell', two episodes of 'The Bill', four episodes of the 'Ruth Rendell Mysteries', two episodes on 'The Governor', six on 'Insiders', seven on 'Family Affairs' and six on 'Ultraviolet' before his 1999 film debut on the French comedy 'Belle maman' with Catherine Deneuve. There was then twelve episodes of 'Dangerfield' that saw out the end of the decade.

From that time on he dipped into both film and television roles constantly having moved to New York City early on in the new decade. In 2001 there was a support role on 'Law and Order' before 'The Wire' which for Elba ran from 2002 until 2004 across 37 episodes. In the meantime there were movies 'Sorted' and 'Buffalo Soldiers' with Joaquín Phoenix and Ed Harris, with brief stints on 'CSI : Miami', 'Hack', 'Soul Food', 'Girlfriends' and 'Jonny Zero'.

From here films started to feature more regularly with the likes of 'The Gospel' in 2005, 'Daddy's Little Girls' in 2007, and horror thriller 'The Reaping' that same year with Hilary Swank. Later that year there was '28 Weeks Later' with Jeremy Renner and Robert Carlyle, 'American Gangster' for Director Ridley Scott and starring Denzel Washington, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Josh Brolin and Russell Crowe, and then a complete change of pace in closing out a busy year with 'This Christmas' with Delroy Lindo.

2008 & '09 brought the 'Prom Night' remake, Guy Ritchie's London gangster flick 'RocknRolla' with Gerald Butler, Tom Hardy and Tom Wilkinson, 'The Human Contract' with Jason Clarke, 'The Unborn' with Gary Oldman, 'Obsessed' with Beyoncé Knowles before seven episodes on 'The Office' to wind up another decade.

2010 kicked off with 'Legacy : Black Ops', 'The Losers' with Zoe Saldana and Chris Evans, 'The Takers' and Marvel's 'Thor' in 2011 with Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Anthony Hopkins. Of course Elba has reprised his role of Heimdall in 2013's 'Thor : The Dark World' and in 2015's 'Avengers : Age of Ultron'.

In between there was the forgettable 'Ghost Rider : Spirit of Vengeance', the more memorable  'Prometheus' for Ridley Scott once again, 'Pacific Rim' for Guillermo del Toro, and his star turn and Academy Award nominated role as Nelson Mandela in 'Mandela : Long Walk to Freedom'. 'No Good Deed', ' Second Coming' and 'The Gunman' with Sean Penn have been more recent.

During this time there has been four seasons of the BBC's highly acclaimed 'Luther' for which Elba was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for all four seasons and won the gong in 2012, as well as three Primetime Emmy Award nominations. There is talk too of concluding the successful small screen series with a big screen feature length film.

Next up there is 'Beasts of No Nation', 'A Hundred Streets' and 'Bastille Day' in post-production, 'The Jungle Book' and 'Finding Dory' both filming for a 2016 release and to which Elba has lent his voice talents, 'Star Trek : Beyond' also filming and 'The Trap' due in 2017 and starring too Al Pacino, Benicio del Toro, and James Franco.

Amongst big and small screen acting gigs, Elba has carved out a respectable music career appearing in numerous music videos, recording his own work, DJ'ing and rapping his way around various other artists and guest appearances or doing his own thing.

All up Elba has 74 acting credits to his name, he won the Golden Globe for 'Luther' and has nine other award wins and 38 nominations. He was married first time around in 1999 to Hanne 'Kim' Nasgaard with whom he has a daughter Isan born in 2002, then Sonya Nicole Hamlin in 2006 for a brief time, and now he is hooked up with Naiyana Garth since 2013 with whom he has a young son, Winston, born in 2014.

Idris Elba - deep baritone voice; jobbing disc jockey; New York resident; works across all genres with a track record in Sci-Fi, Superhero fare, crime and horror; has been voted best dressed, most beautiful and sexiest man over the years so there is much to celebrate, and, it's your Birthday too - Happy Birthday Idris, from Odeon Online.

Zoe Yadira Saldana Nazario was born in Passaic, New Jersey to mother Asalia Nazario, a Puerto Rican, and father Aridio Saldana from the Dominican Republic. She grew up in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York speaking English and Spanish. Zoe has two sisters Cisely and Mariel and a half brother Nipo. At nine years of age, the young Zoe's father died in a car crash, at which point the family moved to the Dominican Republic, where she developed a keen interest in dance in its many forms. After her 10th grade year she returned to New York with the family and began performing with the Brooklyn based 'FACES' Theatre Group. Following a performance of 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat' in which she took part, the teenage Saldana was recruited by a talent agency, which gave rise to her 2000 big screen debut in 'Centre Stage'.

Her small screen debut came the year before in two episodes of 'Law and Order'. On the strength of the New York set Ballet Dance Academy film 'Centre Stage' Saldana left school and appeared in the Brittany Spears comedy/drama/road movie 'Crossroads' and later that same year in 'Drumline'.

The next year in 2003 came 'Pirates of the Caribbean : The Curse of the Black Pearl' playing Anamaria - a female pirate. From there followed 'The Terminal' with Tom Hanks as Directed by Steven Spielberg, and then 'Haven' with Orlando Bloom and then 'Temptation'.

2005 produced average fare 'Constellation', 'Guess Who', ' Dirty Deeds', and then 'Premium' and 'The Heart Specialist' in 2006 and in 2007 'After Sex' and 'Blackout'. 'Vantage Point' was a bigger hit in 2008 with an all star cast, although Saldana's character is killed off early on in the piece.

2009 however, was the year that was to propel Saldana into the stratosphere - literally, with two epic Sci-Fi adventures that established her star status. The first was J.J.Abrams reboot of the 'Star Trek' franchise in which she payed the role of Nyota Uhura. Seeking support, advice and guidance along the way from two women of influence - Nichelle Nichols who made the role famous and her own back in the 60's television show and in the first run of successful spin-off movies, and the second, her own mother - a self confessed Trekkie! That film made US$386M. Then of course there was the history making James Cameron epic Sci-Fi adventure 'Avatar' in which she played the lead female character of Neytiri. Grossing an all time record breaking US$2.7B the film picked up numerous awards including The Saturn Award for Best Actress - not so bad for an all CG character!

'The Losers' was next in 2010 and then 'Takers', 'Death at a Funeral', and 'Burning Palms' with 'Colombiana' in 2011 as a professional assassin and then 'The Words' a year later. 'Blood Ties' and 'Star Trek : Into Darkness' followed in 2013 with the latter once again Directed by J.J.Abrams and once again reprising her role as Uhura, with this film going on to outstrip its 2009 predecessor with a global Box Office haul of US$468M. 'Out of the Furnace' with Christian Bale and 'Infinitely Polar Bear' with Mark Ruffalo followed.

The unexpected smash hit of 2014 was Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy' which grossed US$774M  with Saldana playing Gamora - this time in green rather than her 'Avatar' blue!

Next up for Saldana is 'Nina' due for release later in 2015 playing the role of legendary jazz singer Nina Simone. Then there will be 'Star Trek 3' currently filming and 'Live by Night' in 2016 and currently in pre-production there is 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' for a 2017 release and then 'Avatar 2, 3 and 4' due in 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively.

Saldana has 45 acting credits to her name, two Producer credits and two Director credits and she has garnered eleven award wins and another 41 nominations so far.

In June 2010 Saldana became engaged to long term boyfriend and business partner in 'My Fashion Data Base' Keith Britton but that relationship ended in late 2011 with Bradley Cooper becoming the love interest until early in 2013. Mid-year she married Marco Perego and in November 2014 their twin sons were born Bowie Ezio and Cy Aridio.

Zoe Saldana - a self confessed lover of the Sci-Fi genre; athletic, determined, personable, respected and beautiful; pushing the boundaries of her capabilities; and earning many friends and fans along the way - Happy Birthday to you from Odeon Online.

Christopher Robert Evans was born in Boston, Massachusetts and grew up in Sudbury. His mother Lisa Capuano is an artistic Director at the Concord Youth Theatre, and his father Robert Evans is a dentist. He has two sisters - Carly and Shanna and a younger brother Scott. Raised as a Catholic he graduated from the Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School and then moved to New York to attend the famed Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
Although he enjoyed time in stage production at school, his first break came in 2000 in the television series 'Opposite Sex' followed up by one off appearances in 'The Fugitive' and  'Boston Public' with his film debut coming in 2000 too with 'The Newcomers' followed by 'Not Another Teen Movie', 'The Perfect Score' and 'Cellular' taking up the first five years of the new decade. His big break though came in 2005 playing Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in the live action 'Fantastic Four' which made US$331M and so prompted a second outing in 2007 with 'Fantastic Four : Rise of the Silver Surfer' which grossed another US$289M. 2007 also saw the release of 'London', 'TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)', 'Sunshine', 'The Nanny Diaries' and the animated Sci-Fi film 'Battle for Terra'  to which he lent his voice talents.

'Street Kings' followed  with Keanu Reeves and Forest Whittaker, 'Push' with Dakota Fanning and Djimon Hounsou, 'The Losers' with Idris Elba and Zoe Saldana, and 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World' Michael Cera and Anna Kendrick coming next.

Having starred in two comic book adaptations in recent years - 'The Losers' and 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World'  his transition to Marvel Comic book fare with his own Superhero franchise was almost inevitable. And so in 2011 - 'Captain America : The First Avenger' was released grossing over US$370M as lead character Steve Rogers/Captain America.

That same year, 2011, there was RomCom 'What's Your Number' and the year after that the epic Marvel stable 'The Avengers' with his character now established alongside those of  Iron Man, Thor and Hulk. 'The Iceman' and 'Snowpiercer' followed before his cameo again as Steve Rogers/Captain America in 'Thor : The Dark World' in 2013 and then his own franchise vehicle once more in 2014 with 'Captain America : The Winter Soldier'  which grossed a very respectable US$715M.

Next up, Evans turned his hand for the first time to Directing and Producing himself in the modest US$3M 'Before We Go' before going back to his Team Mates in 'The Avengers :Age of Ultron' released earlier this year, and so far has made US$1.325B making it the sixth highest grossing film of all time after just a month or so on general release. His third instalment as Captain America comes in 'Captain America : Civil War' which is currently filming for a 2016 release with the next two 'Avengers' instalments - 'Infinity Wars Parts 1 & 2' due for release in May 2018 & 2019 respectively. After these, he says, he will turn his attention more to Directing and less to Acting.

Evans has 39 acting credits to his name, two Producer credits for last years 'Playing it Cool' and 'Before I Go' and a Director credit too for 'Before I Go'. He has had three award wins and 23 other nominations so far.

He dated Jessica Biel from 2004 to 2006, and Actress Minka Kelly in late 2012 but they split in 2013. He is close friends with Scarlett Johansson with whom he has so far starred in six films. He supports the LBGT movement (Lesbian Gay Bisexual & Transgender) and takes an active interest in Buddhism.

Chris Evans - comic book hero, buffed up star still on the rise and tap dancing bachelor (which he does to relieve stress & anxiety, taught by his mother) - Happy Birthday to you from Odeon Online.
