THE LAST STAND - archive from 27th February 2013

For old times sake and a dose of nostalgia, saw 'LAST STAND' last night. Arnie's first top billing movie in ten years and for this there is a return to form albeit Arnie is looking older, more craggy, and less agile.

This is a decent enough good old cops & robbers story with a twist, a believable premise, the action is fast paced, the violence at times graphic, and solid enough characterisation. Arnie puts in a good turn and is a welcome return for the 'Austrian Oak' who is still not afraid to send himself up and put on a good show. Since this outing - the first since standing down at 'The Governator' of California and the break up of his long-term marriage to Maria Shriver, he has appeared with Sly Stallone in the straight to video (in Australia) 'Escape Plan', the upcoming 'Sabotage' and 'The Expendables 3' due out later in 2014 and is currently filming 'Terminator : Genesis' due for release in 2015.
On 'The Last Stand' though - certainly worth a viewing, but you can afford to wait for the BluRay and watch it from the comfort of your lounge room.
