TED - archive from 2nd August 2012.

Saw 'TED' last night and fortunatley it was the Hoyts Movie-of-the-Week so only paid $10 . . . pleased I did as it's not worth any more! You've seen this movie a million times before in a variety of formats and themes - but let me summarise!

Young boy makes wish; wish comes true; lasting friendship ensues spanning 30 years; boy meets girl; boy & girl fall in love; boy & girl split because of friend; boy & friend fall out; friend makes good between boy & girl; boy, girl & friend live happily ever after!

The friend in question is a talking, walking, obnoxious, un-pc, diplomatically incorrect in every sense 18 inch tall CGI Teddy Bear muppet that you'ld happily stamp on. This bear has no redeeming features and it cusses and abuses everything in sight - nothing and no-one escapes! Written, Directed and starring the voice talents of Seth MacFarlane as 'Ted' with Mark Wahlberg in the lead role as John Bennett with love interest provided by Mila Kunis and Lori Collins it is she who wants more out of their four year relationship when things start to go awry and the commitment phobic John has doubts!

There are some chuckles but nothing LoL and the only saving grace in this tragidramedy is Mark Wahlberg & Giovanni Ribisi who were much better together in the recent 'CONTRABAND'. Despite my views and opinions this movie scored eleven award wins and 26 other nominations and even an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song - 'Everybody needs a Best Friend'.

Costing about US$50M to make it hauled in a very impressive US$550M globally and so it will come as no surprise that 'TED 2' will be released at a cinema near you on June 26th 2015. Seth MacFarlane will star once again as Ted as well as Directing, Writing and Producing. Mark Wahlberg reprises his role as John Bennett and love interest this time around is in the form of Amanda Seyfried and, of all things, Morgan Freeman is also slated to star too . . . really!
