Jack Alexander Huston was born in King's Lynn, Norfolk, England to mother Lady Margot Cholmondeley and father Tony Huston, an Actor, Writer and Assistant Director. His mother is English and his father is American, and his paternal aunt is Actress Anjelica Huston and his paternal uncle is Actor Danny Huston, his paternal grandfather was Director John Huston and he is the great grandson of Canadian Actor Walter Huston. On his mothers side, his great grandfather George Cholmondeley, the 5th Marquess, Jack is descended from Robert Walpole, the first Prime Minister of Britain, and from Mayer Amschel Rothschild, the founder of the Rothschild international banking dynasty. Jack had made his mind up to become an Actor after appearing in a school production of 'Peter Pan' at just six years old. He attended the private, residential co-educational Hurtwood House, a sixth form college located in Dorking, Surrey where he studied drama. 

Huston gained his first film role in the made for television film adaptation of 'Spartacus' in 2004 alongside Goran Visnjic, Alan Bates, Angus Macfadyen, Ben Cross, Ross Kemp and Rhona Mitra. This led to the horror thriller 'Neighbourhood Watch' in 2005, then the biographical drama 'Factory Girl' with Sienna Miller, Guy Pearce, Jimmy Fallon, Hayden Christensen, James Naughton, Mena Suvari and Mary Elizabeth Winstead in 2006, and horror comedy offering 'Shrooms' in 2007. Sci-Fi actioner 'Outlander' followed in 2008 with Jim Caviezel, Ron Perlman and John Hurt with dramatic thriller 'The Garden of Eden' that same  year with Mena Suvari, Matthew Modine, and Richard E. Grant. 2009 saw comedy drama 'Shrink' with Kevin Spacey with comedy drama 'Boogie Woogie' also starring Danny Huston, Gillian Anderson, Alan Cumming, Heather Graham, Christopher Lee, Stellen Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling and Amanda Seyfried seeing out the decade. 

2010 saw his appearance on eight out of the thirteen episode single season of the fantasy drama television series 'Eastwick', and then the biographical crime comedy caper 'Mr. Nice' with Rhys Ifans, David Thewlis and Chloe Sevigny. He then made a brief appearance in the 2010 instalment of the Stephanie Meyer novel big screen adaptation of 'The Twilight Saga : Eclipse' before scoring a turn in the Al Pacino Directed, Co-Written and starring docudrama 'Wilde Salome'. This led to the drama based on real events 'The Hot Potato' with Ray Winstone, and then '2 Jacks' alongside Danny Huston again, Sienna Miller, Jacqueline Bisset and Billy Zane in 2012. That year also saw 'Not Fade Away' and the five part television mini-series 'Parade's End' with Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Everett, Miranda Richardson and Rebecca Hall amongst notable others.

Up next for Huston was the biographical drama 'Kill Your Darlings' about the lives of acclaimed poets drawn together through a murder - Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs, with Daniel Radcliffe playing the former, Ben Foster the latter and Huston the guy in the middle. 'Night Train to Lisbon' followed with Jeremy Irons, Tom Courtenay, Bruno Ganz, Christopher Lee and Charlotte Rampling in this mystery romantic thriller, and then the highly acclaimed 'American Hustle' as Co-Written and Directed by David O'Russell with an ensemble cast including Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner and Michael Pena. The film was nominated for ten Academy Awards but failed to win one, but it did win three Golden Globes  and was nominated for four others, it won three BAFTA's and was nominated for a further seven, it won one SAG Award and was nominated for one more and it won two AACTA Awards and was nominated for a further five. All up it picked up seventy award wins and 218 nods, and took US$252M at the global Box Office from its US$40M budget outlay.

In between time, Huston starred in 41 episodes of the 57 episode series running over five seasons between 2010 and 2014 of the highly acclaimed 'Boardwalk Empire'. Starring as Richard Harrow alongside the likes of Steve Buscemi, Michael Shannon, Stephen Graham, Michael Kenneth Williams, Dabney Coleman, Kelly Macdonald and Gretchen Mol, the series won 64 awards and was nominated another 182 times, including multiple Golden Globe, Primetime Emmy and SAG Awards and nominations.

'Posthumous' was released in 2014, then the romantic drama 'The Longest Ride' with Scott Eastwood and Brit Robertson, then the undead period piece of rampaging flesh eaters marauding through 19th Century England in this romantic action horror offering of 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' with Lily James, Lena Headey, Charles Dance, Matt Smith, and Sam Riley released in 2016. As was the Coen Brother's mystery comedy of Hollywood in the '50's starring Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes, Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Alden Ehrenreich, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton and Frances McDormand in 'Hail, Caesar'!'. The film was awarded eleven wins and a mother 39 nominations from around the traps including an Oscar and a BAFTA nod.

2016 also saw Timur Bekmambetov's remake of the classic swords and sandals epic 'Ben-Hur' with Huston playing Judah Ben-Hur, alongside Morgan Freeman, Toby Kebbel, Rodrigo Santoro and James Cosmo. The film cost US$100M plus marketing and distribution costs and failed to recoup that investment bringing home just US$94M at the worldwide Box Office, making it a bomb, as well a being poorly received by Critics and clearly audiences alike. This was followed up by WWII romantic comedy drama 'Their Finest' Directed by Lone Scherfig and also starring Bill Nighy, Sam Claflin, Richard E. Grant, Jeremy Irons, Eddie Marsan and Gemma Arterton. Closing out 2017 to date, the Iraq War drama 'Yellow Birds' was released early in the year and starred Jennifer Aniston, Tye Sheridan, Alden Ehrenreich, Toni Collette and Jason Patric. Meanwhile, there was also the television mini-series which ran for four episodes in 2014 'The Great Fire' recounting the events that unfolded during the Great Fire of London in early September 1666, with Huston playing King Charles II.

Next up for Houston is the recently wrapped Phillip Noyce Directed crime action thriller 'Above Suspicion' also starring Emilia Clarke, Thora Birch and Johnny Knoxville. In Post-Production is the comedy offering 'An Actor Prepares' also with Jeremy Irons, Matthew Modine and Will Patton, and currently filming is new television series from the creator of 'Mad Men' with 'The Romanoffs' due for airing sometime in 2018. Starring Aaron Eckhart, Paul Reiser, John Slattery, Corey Stoll, Christina Hendricks, Isabelle Huppert, Diane Lane and Amanda Peet amongst others, the first series is currently scheduled for six episodes on Amazon. Also filming for a 2018 release is the Martin Scorsese Directed biographical crime drama film 'The Irishman' starring Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Bobby Cannavale, Harvey Keitel, Ray Romano, Stephen Graham, Jesse Plemmons and Anna Paquin in a story about a mob hit man recounting his possible involvement with the slaying of Union Boss, Jimmy Hoffa.

All up Huston has 38 Acting credits to his name, and he has so far garnered eight award wins for 'American Hustle', 'Boardwalk Empire', 'Kill Your Darlings' with another four nominations. Huston is in a long term relationship with American model Shannan Click since 2011, with whom he has a daughter, Sage Lavinia (born in April 2013) and a son, Cypress Night (born in January 2016).

Jack Huston - hails from Hollywood Royalty and English Aristocracy; has played English Royalty (Charles II) and Roman Aristocracy (Judah Ben-Hur); has played across just about all genres except Sci-fi but seems to lean toward Biographical retellings, historical offerings and straight up drama; never typecast; is increasingly in demand; a star on the up; and another Brit doing great things Stateside and at home. Jonah Hill Feldstein was born in Los Angeles, California, to mother Sharon Lyn Chalkin, a costume designer and fashion stylist, and father Richard Feldstein a tour accountant for rock band, Guns N' Roses. He grew up in the affluent neighbourhood of Cheviot Hills and attended The Centre for Early Education, then the Brentwood School and thereafter the Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences in Santa Monica. Following high school he attended Bard College - a private liberal arts college in New York, then The New School in New York City and then the University of Colorado Boulder. He has a sister Beanie Feldstein, an actress, and a brother Jordan Feldstein who manages singer/songwriter Robin Thicke and pop/rock band Maroon 5.

Whilst at College, Hill started writing his own plays and performing in them too, gaining quite a following in his New York East Village neighbourhood. He was in turn befriended by Rebecca and Jake Hoffman (the children of Dustin Hoffman) who introduced the young Hill to their Dad. Dustin Hoffman persuaded Hill to audition for a part in 'I Heart Huckabees' in which Hoffman was starring, and he secured a small role in what was to be his screen debut. That was in 2004. After this he gained brief roles in Judd Apatow's Directing debut, 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin' and 'Grandma's Boy', before a more substantial role in Apatow's 'Knocked Up' with Seth Rogen. By now it was 2007 and in between time there had also been appearances in 'Click' with Adam Sandler, 'Accepted' with Justin Long, 'Evan Almighty' with Steve Carell, and '10 Items or Less' with Morgan Freeman and seven episodes on comedy television series 'Campus Ladies'. These all lead to his first lead role in the Judd Apatow Produced 'Superbad' alongside Michael Cera, Seth Rogen and Bill Hader. The film returned US$170M from its US$20M outlay and was critically praised too.

'Walk Hard : The Dewey Cox Story' followed with an uncredited role, then 'Strange Wilderness', 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall', 'Just Add Water', an uncredited appearance in 'Night at the Museum : Battle of the Smithsonian' before another outing for Judd Apatow with Seth Rogen and Adam Sandler in 'Funny People', with 'The Invention of Lying' Written, Directed and Starring Ricky Gervais. In the meantime there had been television appearances on 'Wainy Days', 'Reno 911!', and 'The Simpsons' before the decade closed out.



2010 saw 'Cyrus' for Jay and Mark Duplass, 'Get Him to the Greek' with Russell Brand, and 'Moneyball' with Brad Pitt and Philip Seymour Hoffman which garnered Hill Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA Award nominations for his Supporting Role as Peter Brand in this tale of the Oakland A's baseball team. This was followed up with 'The Sitter'.


Next up was a big screen rendition of the successful 1987 television series '21 Jump Street', released in 2012. Co-Written by Hill and also starring him as one of the two lead roles opposite Channing Tatum, the film made US$222M off its US$42M budget outlay, making a sequel inevitable. That sequel came in the form of '22 Jump Street' again Co-Written and Starring Hill as Morton Schmidt once again opposite Channing Tatum's Greg Jenko. The second film in the series made US$332M off its US$50M budget. A third cross-over film is in the works mashing up 'Jump Street' with 'Men In Black' in what is so far known as 'MIB 23' in which Hill will seemingly reprise his role once more as Schmidt.

In between time there was 'The Watch' with Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn, a small role in QT's 'Django Unchained', 'This is the End' with Seth Rogen and James Franco and then his Academy Award nominated turn in the highly acclaimed and commercially successful Jordan Belfort Bio-Pioc 'The Wolf of Wall Street' opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role, and for Director Martin Scorsese. 'True Story' followed in 2015 with James Franco again.

This brings us up to this year which has seen 'Hail, Caesar' for Joel and Ethan Coen with an all star cast including George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Ralph Fiennes, Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton and Scarlett Johansson, and then the Todd Phillips Co-Written and Directed 'War Dogs' with Miles Teller and Bradley Cooper, with Hill starring as real life US Army contract arms dealer Efraim Diveroli.

Over the years too Hill has lent his voice talents to several film characters including on 'Horton Hears a Who!' in 2008, 'How to Train Your Dragon' as Snotlout in 2010 and again in 'HTTYD 2' in 2014, 'Megamind' as Tighten, in 2010, 'The Lego Movie' as Green Lantern in 2014 and in this years 'Sausage Party' as Carl. He will reprise his Snotlout voice work in 'How to Train Your Dragon 3' due in 2019 and currently in pre-production.

All up Hill has 52 Acting credits to his name, eight as Producer, and six as Writer. He has garnered two Academy Award nominations, two Golden Globe nominations and one BAFTA nomination together with 53 other award nods and five wins so far. He made a concerted effort to lose weight to secure better roles and subsequently did, in more serious roles gaining acclaim along the way. He took the role in 'The Wolf of Wall Street' for nothing, just to have the opportunity to work with Martin Scorsese - his 'favourite filmmaker of all time', and he would do it again in a second!

HAIL, CAESAR : Saturday 12th March 2016.

'HAIL, CAESAR' which I saw over the weekend is the latest offering and the 17th film from those very talented Coen Brothers - Joel and Ethan bringing us a nostalgic Hollywood comedy with an all star cast. Directed, Produced, Written and Edited by the Coen's with lensman Roger Deakins on camera duty the film premiered in LA on 1st February and went on general US release on 5th February, and, has so far made US$47M off its US$22M budget. The idea for the film has been kicking around since 2004 and was intended to be a 1920's set comedy film surrounding a play about Ancient Rome where the focus was on the lead character to be played by George Clooney completing a trilogy of films that sandwiched 'Intolerable Cruelty' between 'O Brother, Where Art Thou' and this latest production. Come 2008 and there was still no script although the notion of the film still existed as a glint in the Coen's eyes. Fast forward to late 2013 and a script was being worked up, and by May 2014 it was confirmed that this would be there next Production but the era and the plot had shifted to what we now have.

'Hail, Caesar' melds a fictional story with a real life character, that being Joseph Edgar Allen John 'Eddie' Mannix (played here by Josh Brolin) who died in 1963 having worked throughout the golden era of Hollywood's studio system as a film producer, studio executive and 'fixer' to the stars of the time. As the film opens it is the early 50's and there is a voiceover narrative provided by Michael Gambon that sees Capitol Pictures Head of Production and 'fixer' to the stars Eddie Mannix being introduced to us as he takes confession - it is 5:00am in the morning and his day is about to start - it is 24 hours since his last confession - Mannix is a serial confessor!

As the film progresses we are introduced to various characters over the course of a single day - all of whom are busy at Capitol Pictures churning out movies as Hollywood did in the 50's to detract from the angst of the time caused by the Cold War, the Red Scare, Commies under the bed and the advent of television. These were often of big song & dance numbers, westerns, sword & sandal Roman epics and films the audience could immerse themselves in and 'escape' the realities of life for a few hours.

Here we have hapless Hollywood heart-throb and #1 leading man Baird Whitlock (George Clooney, channelling Kirk Douglas, Clark Gable and Chuck Heston) shooting that epic Roman swords and sandals movie from which this film takes its title. During a scene he is drugged and eventually abducted by a group of screenwriters with Communist tendencies who demand a ransom of $100,000. He wakes up in a lavish beach house and is taken in by his 'kidnappers' with tea and cucumber sandwiches and told that they are all Hollywood Writers wanting a slice of the action for their creative writing skills that underpin the movie industry but for which they gain no reward or recognition . . . but really they have an agenda of propagating Communism and the Russian Dream. Hapless Whitlock fails to see this initially and goes along with their 'study-group' cover-up but within a few hours succumbs to their politiccal and economic ideals. By mid-day Mannix receives a ransom note from 'The Future' demanding payment in exchange for the safe return of Whitlock who is now AWOL whilst 'Hail, Caesar' needs to wrap with the pivotal concluding scene to be shot.

Meanwhile, talented and handsome dancer, Burt Gurney (Channing Tatum channelling Gene Kelly) is shooting a naval themed song & dance musical on another sound stage, as is a gorgeous swimmer, DeeAnna Moran (Scarlett Johansson channelling Esther Williams) on another, filming an aquatic musical featuring synchronised swimming and mermaids a la Busby Berkeley. She is upset and distressed since her second marriage ended in tatters (and subsequently 'fixed' by Mannix) and she is now pregnant to an unknown father and this pending news could be very bad for her career - a husband is needed quickly! Then there is  a singing cowboy, Hobie Doyle (Alden Ehrenreich channelling Kirby Grant), who as one film ends is told that his image is being changed and he is to report to the Studio for his next walk on part later that day on the serious 'Merrily We Dance' being shot by renowned British Director, Laurence Laurentz (Ralph Fiennes) who has concerns over Hobie's acting capabilities after the first few takes go awry, and complains to Mannix about safeguarding the artistic integrity of his picture.

Meanwhile, there is Tilda Swinton playing identical twin reporters Thora and Thessaly Thacker who both work for conflicting entertainment publications as gossip columnists who believe they have an inside scoop on Baird Whitlock's disappearance earlier in the day, and a scandal surrounding one of his earlier films 'On Wings with Eagles'. Mannix persuades the feuding sisters to hold their columns for 24 hours by which time he'll have retrieved Whitlock having paid the ransom out of 'petty cash', and will have defused the situation turning attention to something else.

Mannix pays the ransom money later that afternoon and then speaks with Hobie about his part in the Laurentz Production, and then orders him to accompany Carlotta Valdez (Veronica Osorio channelling Carmen Miranda) to the premier of his latest film. Afterwards over a drink, he notices the briefcase used by Mannix to stash the $100,000 cash in is being carried off by Burt Gurney and follows him to the beach house where Whitlock is being held. It turns out that Gurney is defecting to the Russian side and has rowed off shore with the other Writers to rendezvous with a Russian submarine. Hobie makes off with Whitlock while the others are distracted in their row boat, just as a convoy of police cars descend on the beach house.

With Whitlock returned to Capitol Pictures he is confronted by Mannix who orders him in no uncertain terms to stop messing with ridiculous Communist ideologies and concentrate of the concluding scenes of 'Hail, Caesar' with a career defining performance, otherwise the world may just learn of the part he played in his own abduction. As the film draws to a close we find Mannix back where it all started - 27 hours later in the confessional box seeking divine guidance about an offer too good to refuse to head up the 'Lockheed Corporation', but will he accept?

The film also stars Jonah Hill as Joseph Silverman - a surety agent working for the Studio, Frances McDormand as film Editor C.C.Calhoun, Clancy Brown as Whitlock's Co-Star in 'Hail, Caesar' and Christopher Lambert and Dolph Lundgren in bit-parts.

'Hail, Caesar' is a nostalgic look back at the Studio System of movie making during Hollywood's golden era, and in that respect the film hits all the notes and has a lot of fun in doing so. This doesn't of course mean there is any historical accuracy in the film, but it is loosely based on the drama, the spectacle, the scandal, the angst, and the personalities of that era. The film is fun, moves along at a good pace and has plenty of distractions to maintain the interest. Clooney delivering yet another numbskull turn for the Coens does so with aplomb, Brolin shows restraint and control over the roadblocks seemingly thrown in his way day by day as Mannix is reinvented for this film compared to how he may have been in real life, and Fiennes is first rate as the stiff-upper lipped English aristocratic Director Laurentz, with more than a hint of Laurence Olivier here.

For all of that, the film in this Reviewers humble opinion, is not up there with the Coen's finer, more memorable works. With four films in one all surrounded by a day in the life of a Studio linchpin there is maybe too much going on around the edges that is not necessary to the plot (two lavish productions numbers in particular for Moran & Gurney) - time perhaps better spent on other areas that would have created more depth & meaning to the central characters or given us a little more back story. It's enjoyable enough, has high production values, some strong performances, visually is engaging but lacks that final ingredient to elevate it to truly memorable. 'Hail, Coen's' - perhaps not so much this time!

The main category nominations look like this : Best Film - 'The Big Short', 'The Martian', 'The Revenant', 'Spotlight', 'Room', 'Brooklyn', 'Bridge of Spies' and 'Mad Max : Fury Road'. Best Director nominations are for Adam McKay, George Miller, Lenny Abrahamson, Tom McCarthy and Alejandro Inarritu. Best Actor runnings are for Matt Damon in 'The Martian', Bryan Cranston for 'Trumbo', Michael Fassbender for 'Steve Jobs', Eddie Redmayne for 'The Danish Girl' and Leonardo DiCaprio for 'The Revenant'. Best Actress nominations go to Cate Blanchett for 'Carol', Brie Larson for 'Room', Charlotte Rampling for '45 Years', Jennifer Lawrence for 'Joy' and Saoirse Ronan for 'Brooklyn'. Best Supporting Actor nods have gone to Mark Rylance for 'Bridge of Spies', Christian Bale for 'The Big Short', Tom Hardy for 'The Revenant', Mark Ruffalo for 'Spotlight' and Sylvester Stallone for 'Creed' with Best Supporting Actress nominations going to Rooney Mara for 'Carol', Jennifer Jason Leigh for 'The Hateful Eight', Kate Winslet for 'Steve Jobs', Rachel McAdams for 'Spotlight' and Alicia Vikander for 'The Danish Girl'. Without going into more detail of the individual categories which you can easily check out on line, in summary 'The Revenant' is in the running with twelve nominations, followed by 'Mad Max : Fury Road' with ten, 'The Martian' with seven', 'Bridge of Spies', 'Carol' and 'Spotlight' each with six, 'The Big Short' and 'Star Wars : The Force Awakens' with five apiece, 'The Danish Girl' and 'Room' with four each, and 'The Hateful Eight', 'Brooklyn' and 'Sicario' each with three. Coming closer to home, this week we have five new offerings arriving fresh and wholesome at your local cinema complex. Kicking off from acclaimed dynamic Directing duo is a historical Hollywood romp that is part fact part fiction and all entertainment with a big name cast and a throw back to the golden age of the studio system. Then there is an intense modern warfare offering based on true life events in the very recent past from a loud & proud Director used to blowing shit up for the mindless amusement of teenage boys the world over, with an Egyptian epic swords & sandals save the world gods and mortals battling it out for supremacy and the chance to rule victorious forever, following. From here we go back to WWII for a more sombre, harrowing and confronting foreign language film that has to be the must see film of its kind this year; before wrapping up with a modern take on a classic English novel mashed up with the flesh eating undead.

HAIL, CAESAR (Rated PG) - the latest offering and the 17th film from those very talented Coen Brothers - Joel and Ethan bringing us a nostalgic Hollywood comedy with an all star cast. Directed, Produced, Written and Edited by the Coens with lensman Roger Deakins on camera duty the film premiered in LA on 1st February and went on general US release on 5th February and has so far made US$25M off its US$24M budget. 'Hail, Caesar' melds a fictional story with a real life character, that being Joseph Edgar Allen John 'Eddie' Mannix (played here by Josh Brolin) who died in 1963 having worked throughout the golden era of Hollywood's studio system as a film producer, studio executive and 'fixer' to the stars of the time.

Here we have hapless Hollywood heartthrob Baird Whitlock (George Clooney) shooting an epic Roman swords and sandals movie sometime in the mid-50's, when he is drugged and abducted by a group of screenwriters with Communist tendencies who demand a ransom of $100,000. Mannix must muster his every effort in an attempt to retrieve Whitlock whilst dealing with numerous other studio issues at Capitol Pictures including a talented and handsome dancer, Burt Gurney (Channing Tatum channelling Gene Kelly),  a gorgeous swimmer, DeeAnna Moran (Scarlett Johansson channelling Esther Williams) a singing cowboy, Hobie Doyle (Alden Ehrenreich channelling Kirby Grant), and an upset Director, Laurence Laurentz (Ralph Fiennes). Meanwhile there is Tilda Swinton playing identical twin reporters Thora and Thessaly Thacker, Frances MacDormand as film editor C.C.Calhoun, Jonah Hill as surety agent, Joseph Silverman with Christopher Lambert, Dolph Lundgren, Clancy Brown, and, Michael Gambon providing the narrative. 'Hail, Coens' - sounds like another authentic amusing romp that can be delivered as only the Coens know how to.

13 HOURS : THE SECRET SOLDIERS OF BENGHAZI (Rated MA15+) - Michael Bay Produces and Directs this true account of a crack team of six security team members who must defend the American Diplomatic compound in Libya's Benghazi, following a series of terrorist attacks on September 11th 2012. At the time Libya was named as one of the most dangerous places in the world, and this film is based on the real life events as recorded in the 2014 book '13 Hours' by Mitchell Zuckoff. Working for 'Global Response Staff' - a team of private military contractors all of whom are former highly trained, weapons skilled and field experienced special op's personnel required to protect the US Embassy outpost known as 'The Annex', and must do so against overwhelming odds. You can count on the usual fast paced, blood splattering, limb tearing and explosive action that is trademark Bay.

GODS OF EGYPT (Rated M) - Directed and Produced by Aussie Alex Proyas, and shot in Australia too at Sydney's Fox Studio's at a cost of US$140M this is a swords and sandals fantasy epic of Egyptian Gods and mortals. Here we have the future of mankind hanging in the balance as Set (Gerard Butler) the God of darkness and all things nasty takes over Egypt's throne and plunges the  wealthy and glorious empire into conflict, chaos and calamity. A mere mortal is always on hand though when civilisation needs to be rescued with big ideas, a moral compass and a stiff upper lip to  save the world and win back his one true love. And so Bek (Brenton Thwaites) comes to the rescue forming an unlikely partnership with a powerful Egyptian God, Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) to thwart Set and his band of goons that takes them across the heavens and into the afterlife in a fight to the death, supremacy and peace on Earth. Also starring Bryan Brown, Rufus Sewell and Geoffrey Rush.

SON OF SAUL (Rated M) - a harrowing account of the day and a half in the life of a Hungarian-Jewish prisoner in Auschwitz, this Hungarian production from first time Director and Co-writer  Laszlo Nemes has won much critical acclaim winning The Golden Globe for the Best Foreign Language Film and is nominated in the same category at the forthcoming Academy Awards, as well as picking up the Grand Prix at Cannes last year. Here Saul Auslander (Geza Rohrig) is a Hungarian member of the Sonderkommando - work units made up of death camp prisoners who were forced for fear of their own deaths to dispose of the bodies of gas chamber victims during the Holocaust. When Saul discovers the dead body of a young boy, he takes him for his son and seeks against all odds to find a Rabbi to give the child a proper Jewish burial, whilst protecting himself from the threat of death at any moment. 38 awards wins, 36 nominations and the highest critical acclaim, this is must see cinema that will shock, inspire, surprise and delight.

PRIDE + PREJUDICE + ZOMBIES (Rated MA15+) - just as it must be true (because Hollywood says so) that Abraham Lincoln was a vampire slayer, so it must also be true that Jane Austen knew a thing or two about zombies. And so it is in 19th Century England which is increasingly becoming overrun with the undead, that the Bennett sisters, recently returned from China where they each learned the skills of martial arts and weaponry, have to thwart the evil flesh eating foe with dashing young suitor Mr. Darcy in toe, also not afraid of dispensing with a pesky zombie or six! Directed by Burr Steers who wrote the screenplay of the Seth Grahame-Smith novel of the same name, and starring Lily James, Sam Riley, Suki Waterhouse, Charles Dance, and Lena Headey, 'PPZ' has so far made US$12M back of its initial US$28M budget.

Katherine Matilda 'Tilda' Swinton was born in London, England to mother Judith Balfour, an Australian, and father Major General John Swinton, and Lord Lieutenant of Berwickshire. Her family history can be traced back to The Middle Ages, and hers is one of only three families able to track their unbroken land rights and ancestry dating back to the time before The Norman Conquests. Swinton was privately educated at the independent schools of Queen's Gate School in London, West Heath School in Sevenoaks (where she was classmates with Lady Diana Spencer [aka Princess Diana]) and at Fettes College in Edinburgh. In 1983 she graduated from New Hall College at Cambridge University with a degree in Political and Social Sciences. Whilst at College she joined the Communist Party and then the Scottish Socialist Party, and she began stage acting too in college productions.

In 1984 she joined the Royal Shakespeare Company and appeared in 'Measure for Measure'. Her small screen break came in the mini-series 'Zastrozzi : A Romance'. That same year she worked on her first film with gay experimental Director and Cinematographer, Derek Jarman in what would become a nine year personal and professional relationship starting with 'Caravaggio' in 1986 and taking in 'The Last of England', 'War Requiem', 'The Garden', 'Edward II', 'Blue' and 'Wittgenstein' up to the point of his death in 1994 from AIDS complications.

His premature death left a massive void in Swinton's life from which it took her a long time to fully recover. During that time however, she made 'Orlando' in 1992 for Writer and Director Sally Potter, for which both the Actress and the Director won numerous Awards on the international film circuit. 'Orlando' allowed Swinton to explore her interest in gender presentation and androgyny and from that point onward and throughout her career to the present day, she has dipped in and out of small independent film fare and those more main stream, worked on foreign language offerings, with new emerging Directors, and across multiple genres as old, young, male, female, immortal and otherworldly characters.

1996 saw 'Female Perversions' with 'Conceiving Ada' in 1997, Tim Roth's Directed 'The War Zone' in 1999 with Ray Winstone and Colin Farrell, and 'The Protagonists' that same year, which saw out the decade.

As the new decade turned over there was Danny Boyle's 'The Beach' in 2000 with Leonardo DiCaprio, and Cameron Crowe's 2001 'Vanilla Sky' with an all star cast lead by Tom Cruise, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz. Spike Jonze Directed Swinton thereafter in the 2002 'Adaptation' with Nicolas Cage, Meryl Streep and Chris Cooper. The following year brought Norman Jewison's 'The Statement' with Michael Caine, Alan Bates, and Jeremy Northam. 2005 saw the supernatural horror fantasy comic book telling of 'Constantine' with Keanu Reeves, Shia LaBeouf and Djimon Hounsou.

2005 also saw Swinton's first outing as 'The White Witch' in 'The Chronicles of Narnia' series with 'The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe'. She reprised her role in 2008's 'Prince Caspian' and again in 2010 for 'The Voyage of the Dawn Trader'.

In between there was her Oscar winning role alongside George Clooney in Tony Gilroy's 'Michael Clayton' in 2007. 2008 was a busy year with 'Narnia' as well as 'Burn After Reading' with George Clooney again, and Brad Pitt for the Coen Brothers Directing, and 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' with Brad Pitt again too, and Cate Blanchett and Directed by David Fincher. 'Limits of Control' and 'I am Love' saw out the decade with the last (so far) 'Narnia' instalment in 2010.

The last five years have been equally busy in which we have seen 'We Need To Talk About Kevin', 'Moonrise Kingdom' for Wes Anderson with whom he would work again on 2014's 'The Grand Budapest Hotel'. Then there was 'Only Lovers Left Alive' with Tom Hiddleston and Mia Wasikowska and for Director Jim Jarmusch, and then the excellent 'Snowpiercer' and 'The Zero Theorem' in the meantime before this years 'Trainwreck' and 'A Bigger Splash'.



Next up is 'Hail, Caesar' for the Coen Brothers once again and also starring George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes and Josh Brolin and a whole heap of big name talent, and currently in post-production for a 2016 release. In pre-production for 2016 too is 'Okja' for Korean Director Joon-ho Boon for whom she worked on 'Snowpiercer' and the further expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 'Doctor Strange' also for 2016 and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Swinton has 71 Acting credits to her name, six Producer credits, three Writing credits and one for Directing for the documentary 'The New Ten Commandments' in 2008. She has an Academy Award and a BAFTA win for Best Supporting Actress for 'Michael Clayton' and a further 56 award wins and another 121 nominations including three Golden Globes and two other BAFTA's.

Swinton has worked with performance art in a live installation in London; with fashion designers and houses and has been often lauded as one of top world's best dressed women; and she has sat on the Jury of the Berlin, Venice, Moscow, Cannes and Sundance Film Festivals. She also founded her own, in and around Scotland; has appeared in music video clips for Orbital and David Bowie and now lives in Scotland with her partner of eleven years Sandro Kopp with her twins Honor and Xavier born in October 1997 to her former partner, Scottish playwright John Byrne.

Channing Matthew Tatum was born in Cullum, Alabama to mother Kay Faust, an airline employee and Glenn Tatum, a construction worker. When he was six years of age the family moved to to Mississippi where he lived rurally close to the great river. He grew up engaging in many athletic sports including soccer, American football, basketball, track and martial arts - even practising the latter under the tutelage of a 10th dan. His teenage years were mostly spent in Tampa where he attended Gaither High School, and thereafter Tampa Catholic High School from which he graduated in 1998. From there he attended Glenville State College in West Virginia on a football scholarship but dropped out to return home to work assorted odd jobs. These included working as a roofer before starting as a male stripper under the alias 'Chan Crawford'.

His first gig as a dancer was in Ricky Martin's 2000 music video for 'She Bangs' for which he earned $400. Having done some work in the fashion industry he began modelling for Armani and Abercrombie & Fitch, and then television commercials for Pepsi and Mountain Dew, and then in turn for Nautica, Dolce & Gabana, American Eagle and Emporio Armani.

His screen acting debut came in 2005's 'Coach Carter' with Samuel L. Jackson, although it was 'Step Up' a year later that gave him wider acclaim, and it was on this film that he met his future wife. In between time there was 'Havoc', 'Supercross', a small part in Steven Spielberg's 'War of the Worlds'  and then 'She's the Man'.

'A Guide to Recognising your Saints' followed in 2008 with a large ensemble cast including Robert Downey Jnr., Shia LeBeouf, Chazz Palmenteri, Rosario Dawson and Eric Roberts, and then 'Battle in Seattle' and 'Stop Loss' with Ryan Phillippe and Joseph Gordon-Levitt about soldiers returning from the Iraq War, followed up with a cameo reprisal of his role as Tyler Gage in 'Step Up 2 : The Streets' in the meantime.

Then came 'Fighting' in 2009 after which he teamed up with Director Michael Mann on 'Public Enemies' with Johnny Depp and Christian Bale, playing Pretty Boy Floyd, and then the actioner  'G. I. Joe : The Rise of Cobra' and 'Dear John'. From this point forward he became determined to Produce the films in which he was starring which led him to 'Haywire' Directed by Stephen Soderbergh with again an ensemble cast with the likes of Michael Fassbender, Michael Douglas, Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas and Bill Paxton. There was also 'The Vow' '21 Jump Street' with Jonah Hill, and 'Magic Mike' based on his own experiences as a Florida male stripper.

Following some busy years in 2011 and 2012 which also took in 'The Dilemma' and 'The Eagle', 2013 was to prove no different with 'Side Effects' once more for Stephen Soderbergh, the reprisal of his role as Duke/Conrad Hauser in 'G.I. Joe : Retaliation' then a cameo in 'This is the End' and 'White House Down' and a cameo in 'Don Jon' too rounding out the year. 2014 brought '22 Jump Street' with Jonah Hill again and then the highly acclaimed 'Foxcatcher' and the less well received 'Jupiter Ascending' earlier this year. 

Next up for Tatum is 'Magic Mike XXL' continuing the story of Michael 'Magic Mike ' Lane due for release later this year, and Quentin Tarantino's 'The Hateful Eight' also due in late 2015. 'Hail Caesar' is in post-production for Joel & Ethan Coen and starring Josh Brolin and George Clooney amongst an all star line-up and due in 2016, as is '23 Jump Street' and 'X-Men : Apocalypse' currently in pre-production for release later in 2016 also. In the latter he'll play the character 'Gambit' which it is announced will get it's own spin-off in 'Gambit' in 2016/17.

Tatum has so far 42 acting credits and nine Producer credits to his name, with a Writer credit too for 'Magic Mike XXL'. He has garnered nineteen award wins and 48 other nominations. He has two Production Companies - '33andOut Productions' and 'Iron Horse Entertainment'.
