Benjamin John Whishaw was born in Clifton, Bedfordshire, England to mother Linda Hope - a worker in cosmetics, and father Jose Whishaw - a worker in the field of Information Technology. He has a twin brother, James. He was raised in the central Bedfordshire villages of Clifton and Langford, and he attended the Henlow Middle School nearby, and then the Samuel Whitbread Community College in Shefford, also close by. It was here through the allied theatre company, 'Big Spirit' that Whishaw first become involved with play acting, and, to some local critical acclaim. He went on to study at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art from which he graduated in 2003.

He gained his first screen role in the 1999 film 'The Trench' - a story of young soldiers in the trenches preparing to go over the top in the WWI Battle of the Somme as Directed by William Boyd and also starring Daniel Craig, James D'Arcy and Cillian Murphy. 'The Escort' came later that year too, with small screen roles following on 'Black Cab', 'Other People's Children' and then short film 'Baby'. 'My Brother Tom' in 2001 garnered Whishaw a British Independent Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer, which was followed up with 'Ready When You Are Mr. McGill' in 2003 with Bill Nighy and Tom Courtenay and then made for television film 'Booze Cruise', with short films 'Spiritual Rampage' and '77 Beds' in the meantime. 

Next up was 'Enduring Love' in 2004 with Daniel Craig again and Bill Nighy, Rhys Ifans and Andrew Lincoln, and then Matthew Vaughn's 'Layer Cake' later that year with Daniel Craig once more and Tom Hardy, Michael Gambon and Sienna Miller. 'Stoned' came next in 2005 with Whishaw playing the role of Keith Richards in this bio-pic about the (short) life of Rolling Stones co-founder Brian Jones. That same year he appeared in the Channel 4 sitcom over one single season of six episodes - 'Nathan Barley' with Benedict Cumberbatch and Richard Ayoard. He gained perhaps his breakout role in 'Perfume : The Story of a Murderer' for Director Tom Tykwer with co-stars Alan Rickman and Dustin Hoffman. The film was generally well received and it was a commercial success. Whishaw gained two further award nominations for his role as perfumer and murderer Jean-Baptiste Grenouille. 

Todd Haynes 'I'm Not There' inspired by the life and music of Bob Dylan saw Whishaw alongside Cate Blanchett, Heath Ledger, Richard Gere and Christian Bale, with the big screen adaptation of 'Brideshead Revisited' opposite Matthew Goode, and then 'The International' for Tom Tykwer again with Clive Owen and Naomi Watts, 'Bright Star' for Jane Campion based on the final three years of poet John Keats with Whishaw in the lead role of Keats alongside Abbie Cornish, and short film 'Love Hate' seeing out the decade. In the meantime there had also been five episodes on the highly acclaimed drama series 'Criminal Justice' which also garnered Whishaw further award wins and nominations.

The new decade landed with a big screen adaptation of Shakespeare's 'The Tempest' with Julie Taymor Directing an all star cast including Helen Mirren, David Strathairn, Chris Cooper, Djimon Hounsou, Russell Brand and Alfred Molina. Another BBC drama series followed airing over twelve episodes - 'The Hour' with Dominic West and Peter Capaldi. 2012 gave rise to another Daniel Craig partnership in his role as Bond, James Bond and Whishaw as the new, younger, tech savvy 'Q' in 'Skyfall' - a role he would reprise in 2015's 'Spectre'. The multi-dimensional, time travelling 'Cloud Atlas' for the Wachowski's and Tom Tykwer once more and an ensemble cast including Tom Hanks, Jim Sturgess, Hugh Grant, Hugo Weaving with Halle Berry and Susan Sarandon came next, with his leading role in 'Richard II' in the made for television film for BBC2 following.

Terry Gilliam's 'The Zero Theorem' was up next, then a screen version of 'The Seagull' by Anton Chekov titled 'Days and Nights' with a backdrop of New England sometime in the 1980's, which despite its strong cast bombed critically and commercially. 'Lilting' followed, and then Whishaw lent his voice talents to Paddington Bear in the live action film of 'Paddington' - the story of a bear thrust from the deepest darkest jungles of Peru into deepest darkest London.

2015 was a big year with short film 'The Muse', and then feature length films 'The Lobster', documentary 'Unity', 'Suffragette', 'The Danish Girl', 'Spectre' and 'In The Heart of The Sea' all released that year, as well as a five part BBC 2 series 'London Spy'. 'A Hologram for The King' was released earlier this year with Tom Hanks, as was short film 'Family Happiness'. Next up and due in December 2018 and currently in pre-production is 'Mary Poppins Returns' with Emily Blunt in the lead role, and also staring Meryl Streep.

Since 2003 Whishaw also has amassed numerous stage credits at London's National Theatre, The Old Vic, The Royal Court Theatre, the West End Noel Coward and Harold Pinter Theatres and most recently on Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre. He has appeared in 'Hamlet' to much critical praise, 'The Seagull', 'Cock', 'Peter and Alice' alongside Judi Dench, 'Mojo' and 'The Crucible'. All up Whishaw has forty-four screen and television acting credits to his name and has so far accumulated eight award wins including a BAFTA for television mini-series 'The Hollow Crown' and another fifteen nominations including three BAFTA nods.

In 2012 Whishaw 'married' Australian composer Mark Bradshaw in a civil partnership, and they reside in London.

Ben Whishaw - fiercely private and guarded about his life away from the cameras; shuns celebrity status; enjoys simple pleasures such as gardening, reading, painting and travel; clearly is on the rise and in demand as evidenced by his prolific output as seen in recent years; and already has been critically praised for his work on film, on television and on the boards - and we're happy to keep watching Ben. Matthew de Vere Drummond was born Matthew Allard Robert Vaughn, in London, England to mother Kathy Ceaton who passed away in mid-2013 and . . . here's where it gets complicated! His father was believed to be the American Actor Robert Vaughn following an affair with his mother. Before a paternity investigation was carried out, Robert Vaughn sought for the young lad to bear his surname and so from birth Matthew Vaughn was it. That subsequent investigation in fact revealed that the young lad's true father was George de Vere Drummond - an English aristocrat and Godson of King George VI. As a consequence of all of this, Matthew goes by the de Vere Drummond name in his personal life and by the Vaughn name in his professional life. Matthew was educated at the prestigious independent boys and girls boarding school - Stow School - in Stow, Buckinghamshire. Taking a gap year before university, he travelled the world and ending up in Los Angeles found work assisting a Director. Following his gap year he returned to England and attended University College, London, but dropped out after a matter of weeks.

Having been bitten by the film bug, he returned to LA after dropping out of university to begin his career in the movie business. His first foray in to the world of film was as Producer on a little known thriller in 1996 called 'The Innocent Sleep' which starred Michael Gambon, Rupert Graves and John Hannah. Having forged a close friendship with Guy Ritchie in the meantime, Vaughn went onto Produce Ritchie's critical and financially successful films - 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' and then 'Snatch' with 'Swept Away' thereafter which he probably wishes had been well & truly swept away! 'Mean Machine' can along in the meantime which he also Produced with Guy Ritchie and starring many of those names from the two aforementioned films, including Vinnie Jones in the lead role.

His Directorial debut came in 2004 with 'Layer Cake' which he also Produced, and starring Daniel Craig, Tom Hardy, Michael Gambon, Ben Whishaw and Sienna Miller. The film was nominated for several awards and Vaughn picked up the Empire Award for Best British Director on his first such outing.

'Stardust' came next in 2007 which he Directed, Wrote and Produced and which starred a Who's Who of A-List acting talent including Ian McKellen, Robert De Niro, Peter O'Toole, Mark Strong, Henry Cavill, Rupert Everett, Ricky Gervais, Dexter Fletcher, Jason Flemyng, Michelle Pfeiffer, Claire Danes and Sienna Miller. The film picked up five award wins and six other nominations and made US$136M off its US$89M budget. After this he Produced 2009's British vigilante revenge thriller 'Harry Brown' with Michael Caine in the title role.

A year later came 'Kick-Ass' which he again Directed, Produced and wrote the Screenplay for based on the comic book of the same name, and which helped launch the career of eleven year old wise cracking gun totting Chloe Grace Moretz, and which also starred Mark Strong and Nicolas Cage. The film was marred by its use of graphic violence and profanity but it gelled with audiences (including this Reviewer!) making US$97M from its US$30M production budget, and along the way it picked up sixteen award wins and 61 further nominations. Vaughn also served as Producer on the 2013 sequel 'Kick-Ass 2' which fared less well as the Box Office bringing home just US$61M, but off a slightly reduced budget. He also Produced the video game spin-off.

That same year in 2010 he Produced and Wrote 'The Debt' which John Madden Directed and starred Helen Mirren, Jessica Chastain, Sam Worthington and Tom Wilkinson. 'X-Men : First Class' in 2011 saw a return to the Directors chair with a writing credit too on this fifth film in the 'X-Men' franchise taking the story back to the 1960's and the origin of 'The X-Men' and 'The Brotherhood of Mutants' with James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender in the younger Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen roles respectively as Charles Xavier and Magneto respectively. With an ensemble cast the film made US$354M off its US$140M budget and so was deemed a critical and commercial success. Vaughn also gained a further Writing credit on 2014's follow-up 'X-Men : Days of Future Past' which made US$750M globally.

2015 saw 'Kingsman : The Secret Service' based on the comic book of the same name which again saw Vaughn serve as Director, Producer and Writer, and off a budget of US$81M brought home US$415M and launching the career of Taron Egerton in the process, taking a much needed change of direction for Colin Firth and staying true to form Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Caine in strong supporting roles. A sequel is in the works with filming due to begin in April of this year with a release date of June 2017 announced. Vaughn is again writing the Screenplay and is believed to be Directing once again.

He served as Producer on the 2015 Marvel reboot of 'Fantastic Four', as Producer on the about to be released 'Eddie the Eagle' with Taron Egerton, Hugh Jackman and Christopher Walken, and 'I Am Pilgrim' announced with Vaughn taking on Director and Producer duties with a release date yet to be finalised.

All up Vaughn has twenty Producer credits to his name, seven Director credits and seven as Writer, and so far en route he has garnered five award wins and another 15 nominations. He often calls upon Mark Strong, Dexter Fletcher and Jason Flemyng to star in his films and he dropped out of 'Thor', 'Casino Royale' and 'X-Men : Days of Future Past' for which he was slated to Direct. Vaughn also has his own Production Company 'Marv Films' which he founded in 2004. He married German Supermodel Claudia Schiffer in 2002 with whom he has three children - Casper Matthew (born in 2003), Clementine (born in 2004) and Cosima Violet (born in 2010).

Matthew Vaughn - favoured genre is clearly the comic book adaptation, was Best Man to Guy Ritchie when he married Madonna, has made some classic films which have been referenced here both recently and in the past, and looks set to continue doing so. Daniel Wroughton Craig was born in Chester, Cheshire, England to Carol Olivia Williams - an art teacher, and father Timothy John Wroughton Craig a publican and former Merchant Navy midshipman. He attended primary school in the small country towns of Frodsham and Holyoke and then Hilbre High School in West Kirby. At 16, he moved to Calday Grange Grammar School also in West Kirby as a sixth form student - but only briefly. His interest in acting started at age six and his mother took him to acting classes at Liverpool's Everyman Theatre. He appeared in several school productions, including 'Oliver', 'Romeo & Juliette' and 'Cinderella'. He moved to London at 16 following his brief time at Calday Grange Grammar School, having been accepted into the National Youth Theatre to tour Manchester and then Valencia and Moscow. 

He joined the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he studied for three years graduating in 1991 having studied with the likes of Ewan McGregor, Damian Lewis, Joseph Fiennes and Alistair McGowan. In 1993, Craig appeared in a Royal National Theatre production of 'Angels in America', but it was in 1992 that his big screen debut came in the adaptation of the Bryce Courtenay novel 'The Power of One'. For the next few years he worked in television starring in 'Anglo Saxon Attitudes', 'Boon' and 'Covington Cross' in 1992 and then 'Sharpe's Eagle', episodes of 'Zorro', 'Drop the Dead Donkey', 'The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, 'Between the Lines' 'Heartbeat' and 'Screen Two' all in 1993. Over the following years he appeared in 'A Kid in King Arthur's Court' with Kate Winslet, 'Saint Ex' with Bruno Ganz, 'Elizabeth' with Cate Blanchett, and a few others that flew under the radar to close out the decade.

From here on things began to ramp up for Craig with 'Love & Rage', 'I Dreamed of Africa', 'Some Voices' and 'Hotel Splendide' all in 2000. It was however, he role opposite Angelina Jolie in the 2001 'Lara Croft : Tomb Raider' that brought him to Hollywood's attention with the Sam Mendes Directed and Tom Hanks and Paul Newman starring 'Road to Perdition' that followed in 2002. His starring role in 'Layer Cake' in 2004 added further shine to his rising star which was followed up by 'The Jacket' with Adrien Brody and Keira Knightley, 'Munich' starring Eric Bana and Directed by Steven Spielberg, 'Infamous' with Toby Jones, and then his first outing as James Bond, 007, in 'Casino Royale'  Directed by Martin Campbell.

Cementing his role as Bond for the first time with a Box Office haul of US$600M and numerous award wins and nominations, before his next outing as everybody's favourite spy he appeared with Nicole Kidman in 'The Invasion', and again with Nicole Kidman in 'The Golden Compass'. 2008 followed up with 'Quantum of Solace' for Bond once again bringing in US$586M and again a slew of award wins and nominations - but not quite the success of its 'Casino Royale' predecessor. 

'Defiance' was next with Live Schreiber and Jamie Bell later in 2008, 'Cowboys and Aliens' with Harrison Ford in 2011, 'Dream House' in 2011 also with Naomi Watts and Rachael Weisz, 'The Adventures of Tin Tin' for Director Steven Spielberg to which Craig gave his voice talents to Red Rackham and Sakharine, and then the Hollywood remake of 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' with Rooney Mara for Director David Fincher.

Craig's third outing as James Bond came in 2012 with the hugely successful 'Skyfall' which also marked the 50th anniversary of the franchise that kicked-off with 'Dr. No' in 1962. 'Skyfall' to a global Box Office of US$1.1B+ making it the most financially successful Bond film of all time and putting it in the Top 10 of most successful films of all time . . . currently sat in ninth place.






2012 saw Craig playing perhaps the role of his life as James Bond saving (the real) HRH Queen Elizabeth II as part of an opening ceremony sketch for the London Summer Olympic games which was seen by a global audience of in excess of 1.5 billion television viewers.  From late 2013 to early 2014 Craig and his wife Rachael Weisz starred in the Broadway play 'Betrayal'. 'Spectre' is currently filming for a late 2015 release which will be Craig's fourth starring role as Bond with 'Bond 25' recently released to which Craig has committed. In the meantime 'The Girl who Played with Fire' has been announced with David Fincher on Directing duty and Craig reprising his role as Mikael Blomqvist.

Craig has 65 acting credits to his name, and a total 12 award wins and 23 other nominations. In 1992 he married actress Fiona Loudon and divorced two years later in 1994.
