Kate O'Mara passed away on Sunday morning 30th March at a nursing home in which she resided in Sussex, England. Born in Leicester in 1939 she was an actress of the small screen, silver screen and theatre and rose to prominence largely in the 1980's securing a string of long running television series - the most notable of which were 'Howards End', 'Dynasty' and 'Dr. Who'.
Before this she starred in a number of 'B' grade Hammer House of Horror style movies including 'Corruption', 'The Horror of Frankenstein' and 'The Vampire Lovers' towards the back end of the 60's. Other film credits include 'The Tamarind Seed', 'The Desperado's' and 'Great Catherine' starring alongside Peter O'Toole, Omar Sharif, Anthony Quayle, Jack Palance and Julie Andrews amongst others during this time.
Amongst her other TV credits (of which there are many) she starred in long running early evening British soap opera institution 'Crossroads' as well as guest appearances in the likes of 'Department S', 'The Protectors', 'The Persuaders', 'The Avengers', 'The Champions', and 'The Saint'.
It is however, for her long running turn in 'Dynasty' that she is most likely to be remembered as the scheming, devious sister Cassandra Morrell to Joan Collins' Alexis Colby.
