Saw 'LIFE OF PI' on Tuesday night. This is a great film - beautifully realised, expertly rendered and a must see in 3D. The images in 3D are clean, clear, crisp and sharp and compliment the storytelling - the like of which we haven't seen since 'AVATAR' and the story is engaging every step of the way.
Visually stunning from the opening credits the story weaves back and forth tracing Pi's backstory interwoven with his present day adult self retelling his fantastic enlightening journey cast adrift on a life boat far out in the ocean after his ship is wrecked in a storm and all are lost . . . except for Pi and a stowaway Bengal Tiger! Director Ang Lee has crafted a beautiful film that leaves you thinking right at the end with a twist that only you can decide upon. If you caught it on the big screen in glorious awe inspiring 3D, watch it again on the small screen - it merits repeated viewing and you won't be disappointed!
Subsequently this film picked up four Academy Award wins for Best Direction (Ang Lee), Best Cinematography, Best Musical Score and Best Visual Effects, together with seven other Oscar nominations. All up 'Life of Pi' garnered 56 wins globally and a further 79 nominations - not a bad haul!
